Manta

Wave goodbye to split ends with the new MANTA hairbrush. A flexible brush that will revolutionise your self-care routine by moulding to the shape of your hand and scalp. We chat to hairdresser and creator, Tim Binnington, to find out his inspiration.

What is a typical day in the life of Tim Binnington look like?

I’ve always been an early riser, usually 5:30 and then a gym, run or swim. This gets me ready for the day, physically and mentally. I always right a to do list and there is always so much to do with Manta. I work with some truly inspirational people and I love it. My work day runs up to 4pm as I try to get some quality time with our three children.

And why Manta? What was the inspiration behind the name?

Thinking of a name for a product was so difficult because they are usually already being used. The name came to me when I was watching a programme on sea life with one of my daughters and a Manta ray appeared, we were mesmerised by how effortlessly and graciously it glided through the water. This is exactly what the Manta hairbrush achieves but with hair.

As you know, I’ve recommended the Manta to so many clients, friends and family with multiple hair types, different genders and ages and they all love it. Is it the perfect all rounder?

I believe that the Manta is the perfect all rounder as it replicates running your fingers through your hair. The patented FLEXGUARD technology on the base enables each bristle to have complete 360 degree motion
to gently free knots & minimise breakage. This means it works on all hair types and all ages. You can use effectively on wet or dry hair and it is excellent for applying treatments. The most important factor is how gentle it is on your hair with its main purpose of not pulling your hair out.

You recently collaborated with Zoe Irwin to introduce a new colour to the range, are there more planned?

The new burgundy is a real hit and it is such a beautiful combination with the rose gold handle. We have two new exciting versions which will be released in 2020, watch this space!

Can you confirm or deny some of the myths behind hair brushing? My aunt used to shout at me to brush my hair 100 times day and night …is there any truth in this?

Brushing your hair is extremely important and it all starts with the scalp. The sebaceous glands on the scalp produce oils and these help to protect and give shine to your hair. I recommend to gently massage your scalp with the Manta and then work the Manta from scalp to ends down the hair-shaft. Squeeze the Manta around your hair to create a bit more tension as you do this. If you feel a knot in your hair gently release as to not pull your hair out. You will see a noticeable difference in your hair over a two week period and regularly brushing your hair with it.

What’s your go to product to use alongside the Manta?

I have recently started using REN, the Men’s multi-tasking after shave balm is a favourite of mine.

I’ve included the Manta in @stylenest xmas gift guide as I think it’s the gift that keeps on giving, what’s on your list to Santa?

I always look forward to quality time with the family for Christmas. That’s the best present.
