AMÀRE BEACH HOTEL, IBIZA

The brand new adults-only beachfront hotel offers fresh, modern luxury accommodation in the heart of San Antonio Bay.

Location

Amàre Ibiza is located on Cala de Bou, a small crescent of golden sand to the northeast of the island just thirty minutes from the airport. It’s relatively quiet considering lively San Antonio Town with its abundance of bars and clubs is only a ten minute drive away.

Design

The big bright white building is home to 360 rooms and once inside feels a lot more boutique-y than expected. The public areas, all spacious and minimalist in design have a touch of the bohemian with hanging rattan chairs and huge futon-style cushions in every corner. A nice touch is the selection of quirky artwork scattered around provided by the local gallery. But unlike the less is more lobby, the rooms at Amàre Ibiza seem to be a little over-furnished. Another hanging rattan chair spoils the view from the bed and the shower is oddly situated but on the whole it’s spotlessly clean with a large comfortable bed and a good sized balcony that has a view of the bay which is hard to fault.

Food & Drink

There are two restaurants to choose from. Mare Nostrum serves a buffet style breakfast and dinner on the sea view terrace as well as poolside. The breakfast offering is vast and includes delicious freshly cooked omelettes; fresh fruit; fresh bread and fresh orange juice. The dinner buffet needs work, but its selection of cold plates and hot dishes from shellfish to paella and pasta caters to all. The lunch menu was the best. We tried Corvina; meaty and mild, soft, flaky fish served with the fieriest rocket on a bed of sliced ‘grandma’s potatoes’. Yum. The Latin-American inspired menu at the hotels rooftop bar and restaurant, Hayaca, needs some finessing but is worth the trip for the views alone as by sunset they are nothing short of breathtaking.

Service & facilities

The service at Amàre Ibiza is excellent. An efficient, friendly and attentive team includes the charming and immaculate second maître, Fabio Martins, who clearly has hospitality running through his veins. Likewise, the facilities are great. Days can be spent relaxing on one of the pristine white sunbeds dotted around the two main pools and on the hotels private beach or by the smaller pool hidden on the rooftop. If you’re a glutton for punishment, head to the fitness area with a fully-equipped gym. It’s refreshingly air-conditioned and has a floor to ceiling window providing an impressive view overlooking the beach. There’s even a hairdressers and wellness area leading to six serene treatment rooms and a nice changing room if not a little underwhelming. Germaine de Capuccini products are used in a whole host of treatments such as the Ritual Energy Concept; a toning, refreshing and stimulating body massage. There’s also a live acoustic set every afternoon by the hotels daily revolving singer. It is Ibiza after all.

USP

It has to be ‘The One’ private lounge access offering complimentary drinks and snacks from 11am to 11pm daily. By drinks I mean everything from beer, bubbles to wine, spirits and soft drinks. And by snacks I mean a truly lovely buffet from breakfast through to lunch and dinner followed by little sweet treats for afters. All to be enjoyed in a cool, sophisticated lounge area overlooking the beach and pool.
