V for Valmont

Valmont launched their cult AWF (anti-wrinkle firming) range in 2005, they then advanced on this in 2012 with their Prime AWF range, and now in 2018 they have out-done themselves with AWF5; a dual line to effectively fight the most visible signs of ageing. AWF5 is so called thanks to its exclusive complex of 5 active ingredients that target 5 key factors in the dermis- achieving inarguable results.

The epidermis is the top layer of skin where we see the signs of ageing, however, it is the dermis (the thick later below the epidermis) that determines what we see on the surface. Any loss of volume or lack of elasticity suffered in the dermis shows itself as wrinkles and sagging skin on the epidermis, so, Valmont set about creating a lifting line and a ‘filling’ line of 3 simple products each, to correct and strengthen the damage below.

The V-Line Lifting range sets to recontour the perfect V-shape of the face (with fullness in the upper region and sharp & defined in the lower). There is a soothing, gel-cream textured serum, a rich (not heavy) moisturiser and a soft, creamy eye treatment. They all work from the inside out to lift, smooth and enhance the skin, plumping out wrinkles and enhancing the features. I could go into the science of it all but, I will give you the test results instead:

After 56 days of twice-daily use, on a panel of 20 women with an average age of 56, the skin appears (on average) 6 years younger.

6 years younger in 2 months!!! Form an orderly queue please…

The test was performed on women with an average age of 56, but the products are suitable for all ages and skin types, they don’t feel tight on the skin and they contain the all-important preventative peptides and antioxidants to protect and repair our skin from environmental and lifestyle damages.

The V-Shape Filling collection was very exciting for me based on my own skin needs. What many of us fail to realise about visible folds or wrinkles, is that they are caused by lack of volume in the dermis on other parts of the face. For example, my issue is my nasal-labial folds (nose-to-mouth lines) which are caused by the reduction in volume in the apples of my cheeks. From the age of 25 we start losing volume in our faces- usually the cheeks, temples and under eyes, giving a more hollowed appearance. Through work, I have been recommended to have filler in my cheeks on many occasions, but it just doesn’t appeal to me, so I thought I was stuck with the folds, until now! The test results for the filling range, showed a 13% improvement in the density of the skin! To be clear; the product itself does not ‘fill’ the skin, instead the product restores, firms and strengthens the skin to regain the fullness of youth, and again, it is suitable for all ages and skin types- never choose your products based on your age alone as we all age differently depending on lifestyle, environment and genetics.

Unsurprisingly, Valmont does not come cheap, but it is reassuring to know that the packaging is simple and advertising is sparse, meaning; what you pay for is almost all product- products that work, and are actually quite a bargain in comparison to fillers (and for me, way less scary….).
