The UK has a whole host of attractions, and choosing just one can prove tricky. Unless you wish to spend most of your time relaxing, try to fit as much into your day out as possible. The best way to do this is to create a plan and begin booking tickets early should you wish to stay in a hotel, see a show, attend an event, or use train travel for example.

Be Prepared

Consider travelling to your chosen destination the evening before and staying in a hotel or B&B, so that you can wake up early and begin exploring straight away. Be sure to pack appropriate clothes as British weather can, at times, be very unpredictable. Play it safe and carry either an umbrella or a lightweight waterproof coat.

Brighton

Brighton provides a pebbled beach with an attractive stretch of pier to enjoy. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy fresh seafood and walk along the coastline to Eastbourne if you wish to see more of the South Downs. Research what you wish to see in Brighton further by going to coastradar.com, and having a look at the beaches, top rated places the area has to offer, and tips and tricks for finding the best accommodation. Remember to take some clothes suitable to wear in the sea, as you might find yourself tempted to dip your toes and go paddling.

Kew Gardens

Spend a day out in the capital, and you won’t be short of activities to get involved in, sights to see, and new foods to savour. If you’re keen to expand your horticultural knowledge, then consider having your day out at one of the largest botanical gardens in the world. Kew Gardens has fully reopened to the public as of May 2018, and the team there are planting for 25, 50, even 75 years for the future – so now is the time to see the verdant plant life.

Liverpool

You can get a Virgin Train to Liverpool Lime Street from London Euston that usually takes about two and a half hours. Previously voted as the capital of culture, this city has had millions of pounds poured into it to ensure that it maintains its status as being fun and diverse. If you have just the one day to spend there, then be sure to see the largest Anglican cathedral in the world (you can’t miss it), visit the Albert Docks and walk the short distance to see the Royal Liver Building. If you’re feeling peckish, then head towards the Baltic Triangle to sample salt and pepper halloumi fries, popcorn chicken, stone-baked pizza slices, and more.

Chichester

Nestled in the heart of the South Downs, Chichester is a small cathedral city with plenty of lush green space and beautiful cathedral gardens. It has accessible transport links routes into London, Brighton, and Portsmouth, as well as tracks and trails to take a bike. Consider hiring a bike and cycling into the countryside spots such as Goodwood and Lavant. Chichester is also well within reach of the famed West Wittering beach, as well as Bognor beach.
