FACEGYM: The UK’s 1st face workout at Selfridges

Face GymI am in love with FaceGym! A face workout while you lie down! And no, it is not a gimmick.

A non-invasive, face sculpting treatment combining muscle manipulation, massage sculpting and electronic stimulation; this is not just a facial massage. Created by the Spa Junkie columnist for the FT’s How to Spend it, Inge Theron, FaceGym is a concept like no other and the results speak for themselves.

Picture someone (or yourself) with tense, tight shoulders, then imagine the shoulders after being massaged; softer, more relaxed, warmer. It is the same notion with the face- features look softer, lines look relaxed, circulation is restored giving a healthy glow to the complexion, and with continued treatment the results get better and better. Do not underestimate the power of massage! I guarantee all the celebrities with the most beautiful skin include facial massage in their beauty regimes.

The FaceGym starts with a cleanse/warm up to prepare the skin for the workout, oil is then applied for the cardio part of the treatment- an intense vigorous massage stimulates the blood circulation flooding the cells with nourishment. The ‘strength’ part of the treatment includes a soft ball which is used to sculpt the face with a pressing and lifting technique- it feels quite bizarre and actually quite tender in places (particularly on the areas holding the most tension, mine felt most uncomfortable around my sinuses) but it definitely feels like it’s working the muscles. Next comes the toning part of the workout. A high frequency machine is used to stimulate and lift the muscles, it’s amazing! Not at all uncomfortable and you can actually see the muscles being worked! High frequency is anti-bacterial and also helps to wake up the lymphatic system which is responsible for removing spot-inducing, skin-dulling toxins from the face. Like all good workouts you finish with a cool-down, FaceGym uses a gorgeous Jade stone roller to calm the skin and drain any last toxins.

As well as the FaceGym, Inge has created a signature washbag (exclusive to FaceGym online and at the Selfridges Studio) retailing at £20 with luxury samples extra depending on the product.

I could not recommend FaceGym more highly; it is not pampering nor is it a facial but it is enjoyable and it works. This is definitely a gym I can commit to!
