Nestled in the heart of West Sussex, Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa really is a breath of fresh air.

With 39 bedrooms set across 30 acres, the bedrooms and suites are located in a series of building including the Medieval House which is connected to the Thatch House by an internal tunnel. Originally built as a seaside home for the Guinness family, the hotel remains a medieval manor with tapestries lining the walls, oak beams and four-poster beds, dating as far back as the 13th century.
After a relaxing soak it was soon time for dinner and we made our way to the Tapestry restaurant. The candlelit tables, tapestry lined walls and mullioned walls all made for a truly romantic setting. Offering a range of menus to choose from, there was no denying the local fish on the menu We opted for the cod with a melted cheese crust and burnt cauliflower base and sugary cinnamon apple doughnuts to finish.
After one of the deepest night’s sleep we’ve had in a very long time, we woke fresh faced and ready to see the sea. We ventured to Climping Beach and made the most of the sea air before heading back to the Big Smoke.
And if we weren’t already relaxed, we ventured into the Temple Spa for some ultimate pampering. For our pedicure, we laid down on a heated floatation bed and within minutes were asleep – before we knew it our nails were perfectly polished and with a flawless manicure to match.
All good things come to an end and we left Bailiffscourt feeling rejuvenated and eager to book our next stay.
