Hotels with contemporary charm
We stayed in Evolution during the notorious Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF), and were hoping for somewhere we could truly relax and recharge our batteries in between après ski and some pretty wild events. We were in luck.
There is no reception at Evolution (it’s located just next door at Legends), so even the main lobby of Evolution feels serene and comforting. The design of the hotel is based upon the idea of contemporary elegance – which is evident in everything from the classy muted tones of the décor, to the crackling fireplaces at every turn.
The rooms themselves are the perfect place to rest tired ski muscles. A vestibule provides space to dump your ski gear, before reclining in a plush sofa in front of a roaring fire. Blankets, cushions and soft lighting mean the suite feels homely yet not without that touch of class you’d expect from a luxury hotel. A full kitchen allows you to whip up your favourite meals with ease, and the free first day coffee service doesn’t go down too badly either.
The king size beds faces a flat screen TV, and the bedroom also open out onto a balcony. If you’re the kind of person who likes to enjoy a steaming cup of coffee outside in the morning chill, you’ll love this extra touch.
The bathrooms are chic, modern and fitted with a range of features you’ll love when you’re cold, tired and aching. A heated floor is the perfect thing for chilly feet, a spacious shower allows for luxurious refreshment and a huge, deep bathtub means you can bathe to your heart’s content. An outdoor hot tub, swimming pool, steam room and sauna means a spa experience is never more than an elevator ride away.
The perfect laidback setting
Based in the relaxed Creekside, Evolution, Legends and the First Tracks Lodge are all within walking distance of a range of amenities, including a supermarket, restaurants, cafes and a ski rental shop. What’s more, the Creekside Gondola means that you’re minutes from a range of runs and trails without even having to venture into Whistler Village.
