Wellicious, one of StyleNest’s favourite active wear brands, has treated us this winter season to a number of wonderful yoga events that have brightened up the dreariest of days! Welcomed with yummy goodies, Wellicious clothing and many Om’s, it was no wonder we jumped at an invitation to return twice!
Wellicious was formed in 2009 by Heike Schnell, a passionate yogi and mother of three, and offers gorgeous active wear that is not only fashionable but also totally eco-friendly. It is one of the only brands to provide an organic and green polyamide range and 90% of the collection is made with eco-friendly, natural fabrics making it unique in the fashion/active wear industry.
No longer are yoga pants and leggings restricted to the studio! Wellicious clothing has managed to cross the lycra boundaries of standard workout wear and bring a versatile and every-day dynamic to their pieces. If you are like us and dread those unwanted supermarket bump-ins after the gym, or despise having to schlep around two outfits in your tinsy bucket handbags, then Wellicious clothing is for you. Team a pair of their zipper leggings and batwing jumpers with a leather jacket and boots, and any nosy fashionista will be eyeing you up – pre or post work out!
Our first ever Wellicious event was held on a sunny Sunday morning in the wonderful Wholefoods on Kensington High Street. Set on the top floor, in a quiet space known as the Room With A View, you would never have guessed you were practising yoga in the middle of a food market – apart from the delicious smells wafting up from the bakery below! The yoga lesson was a mixture of breathing techniques, mantras and strong yoga poses, waking up both the body and the mind. Our teacher, Sonia Doubell, was not only gorgeous to look at, but glowed from the inside, and we finished the hour long yoga class not only relaxed but rejuvenated. Post yoga, each guest was treated with a number of delicious Rude Health granolas and nut milks – the perfect replenishment for a healthy morning. Chatting around to the other guests and to Sonia herself, it was a lovely atmosphere of likeminded, happy people and our team photo was a showcase of this. As if that wasn’t enough of a great way to start the morning, we left with a goodie bag packed full of treats – Rude Health Bars, Giving Tree Pumpkin Crisps, Vita Coco Coconut Water and best of all some Wellicious active wear!
When Wellicious invited us back for another evening yoga session, there was no way we could say no! Sporting our new Wellicious yoga wear, we were ready for a wonderful evening of relaxation and wellness. The evening was hosted in conjunction with YogaMatters, a wonderful online shop that stocks any yoga equipment you can imagine, and we managed to sample their new pastel coloured yoga mats on the evening. Our teacher Nicole Heller, who happens to be one of the Wellicious ambassadors, was not only welcoming but calming and inspirational. Her style of teaching was wonderfully unique, and it was the perfect way to drift away and release our minds from the hustle and bustle of our busy working day. The practise was re-energising and at times challenging, but we can proudly say that the StyleNest team was representing that evening and managed to show off with some serious moves, including a full on head stand (with a little help from Nicole!).
The evening ended with another divine selection of nibbles including a raw chocolate bounty bar from Tanya’s Cafe in Chelsea and some Rude Health snacks. Afterwards we were able to browse the new Wellicious selection and managed to nab a few pieces at sample sale prices, plus another great goodie bag filled with healthy treats including OM bar Chocolate and some Wellicious yoga pants! It was the perfect healthy take on a girly evening – relaxation, retail therapy and chocolate, what more could a girl ask for?
