Carols by Candlelight

Carols by CandlelightEmbrace the spirit of Christmas at Fortnum & Mason’s for a special performance from the acclaimed choristers of St.Paul’s Cathedral.

On Tuesday 10 December, from 7.30pm the new Fortnum & Mason’s Candle Room will be filled with 26 choristers for a truly festive experience.

Guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit, the choristers will be singing a range of traditional carols whilst the Fortnum’s staff will be on hand warming up the cockles with milled wine and serving crumbly mince pies.

Magically lit and with the sounds of Christmas, the Choir of St Paul’s Cathedral has a reputable history with records of the choir dating back from 1127 when the Bishop of London founded the first choir school.

A quintessentially British day out, the newly launched Candle Room plays tribute to founder and royal footman William Fortnum. William Fortnum was first inspired to open the store with Hugh Mason over three hundred years ago by melting down wax stubs left over from the royal household an selling the candles to ladies of the court.

Filled with a wide variety of fragrances and aromas, including a selection of exclusive Fortnum’s candles made from beeswax harvested on beehives on the roof of the store. The Candle Room offers a whole candle experience with candleholders and fine scents from across the world, cherry picked in one room with the finest experts on hand to help you find your perfect candle.

The Candle Room is a place where you can get lost in for hours, even more so with the carols by candlelight.

Carols by candlelight at Fortnum & Mason will take place on Tuesday 10 December at 7.30pm in The Candle Room, First Floor, Fortnum & Mason.
