Harrod’s Steakhouse

Harrods SteakhouseTake a break from an afternoon’s shopping or simply pop in for lunch at London’s most famous department store.

Snuggled in a corner of the famous Harrod’s Food Hall, the newly opened Steakhouse sits within a cornucopia of decedent treats, fine foods and world wines. If you’ve had a hefty afternoon’s shopping or are simply visiting the world-famous store take a seat at art-deco marbled-bar and order one of the finest steaks you are sure to find in London.

Upon arrival you will be introduced to the Harrod’s butcher who talks you through the copious cuts of beef they have on offer. Fillet, t-bone, bone-in sirloin or bone-in ribeye fill the butcher’s fridge, and once you’ve made your decision the cut will be prepared fresh in front of your eyes. All the meats on offer only come from the finest sources and the Steakhouse prides itself on specialising in 21-day dry-aged Aberdeen Angus.

Under the butcher’s recommendation we went for a rib-eye steak which although is slightly fattier than its counterparts fillet or sirloin, it was full in flavor, juicy and cooked to perfection. Each steak is priced per 100g, ranging from £9 for rib-eye to £15 for fillet.

The menu also offers some classic side dishes, from rich macaroni cheese to delicious creamed spinach, and not forgetting the fries triple-cooked in beef dripping. The Steakhouse also offers a good selection of wines and London Lager on tap. If you’re feeling extra decadent you can add lobster to your steak for a tasty Surf ‘n’ Turf.

If you can manage it, the restaurant also has two classic desserts on the menu made in-store by Harrod’s talented chefs – choose from a crème brûlée or a buttermilk chocolate cake. We warn you now, after the hearty steak it’s probably best to get just one dessert and two spoons.

Harrod’s Steakhouse is a great way to finish off a day’s shopping whilst browsing the Food Hall’s incredible selection of world foods. It’s probably best to leave small children at home for this trip but perfect for surly teenagers tired after a long day of traipsing mum round the shops.

The Steakhouse is open from 11.30 to 8pm on Monday to Saturday and 12 noon to 6pm on Sundays.
