Eggnog Recipe

Eggnog RecipeThe ultimate Christmas cocktail this Eggnog recipe is certainly one to prepare come Christmas Eve. Made using Ron Zacapa, a spirit that is aged 7,500 feet above sea level and as a result is allowed to develop a deep and rich taste, you’ll never make eggnog any other way once you’ve tried this recipe.

Serves 4 – 6

Preparation time:

What You’ll Need:

  • 12 eggs, separated
  • 1.5L milk
  • 500ml thickened cream
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 700ml bottle Zacapa 23
  • 2 tsp ground nutmeg

What To Do:

  • In a large bowl and using a mixer, beat the egg yolks and sugar for 10 minutes until the mixture is firm and the colour of butter. Slowly add the rum, a little at a time. Let the mixture cool in the fridge for up to 6 hours.
  • Half an hour before your guests arrive, stir the milk into the chilled yolk mixture, as well as the ground nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the cream with a mixer on high speed until it forms stiff peaks.
  • In yet another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff. Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture, then fold in the cream. Ladle into cups and garnish with nutmeg.
