Daphne’s Re-Opened

Paul Winch-Furness / PhotographerAfter opening its doors half a century ago by theatre agent Daphne Rye, Chelsea’s favourite Italian restaurant has re-opened, revealing a stunning new look.

With designer Martin Brudnizki behind the glamorous new look of Daphne’s, accents include a pink marble bar top, vintage Italian 1950s Murano glass chandeliers and curated collection of modern art.

And it’s not only the interiors which have been updated, the menu also sees a makeover from Chef Michael Brown, offering customers even more choice than before.

The Antipasti offers Italian classics including, San Daniele with Sicilian melon and octopus carpaccio with zucchini flower, The Primi and Secondi offer dishes such as linguine with crab, chilli and parsley and rigatoni alla Sorrentina and pan-fried strips of calves’ liver with pancetta and cipolline. New additions  include dishes from “Griglia” including sea bream, veal chop and corn-fed baby chicken, all served with a selection of sauces (salmoriglio, aioli and roasted chilli salsa). As well as catering for those with lighter appetites, an Insalate section has been added, offering dishes like nectarine, coppa and robiola salad with almonds and white balsamic dressing, and gamberoni and avocado salad. Desserts are devotedly prepared by Head Pastry Chef, Zuzana Laczova.

And for a more informal dining experience, the bar offers a buzzing atmosphere where diners can grab a light lunch, enjoy a cocktail as well as indulge in antipasti with friends.

Relaxed and modern Italian cuisine, Daphne’s remains a favourite amongst the residents of Chelsea and Londoners alike.
