Sophia Webster

sophia webster shoesFrom starting off as Nicholas Kirkwood’s assistant to launching her own brand, the shoe world has a new rising star in the form of British footwear designer, Sophia Webster.

If you’re a fan of Nicholas Kirkwood’s architectural footwear creations, we have another name for you to note down in your little black stylebook.

Sophia Webster, one time assistant to Kirkwood himself, has recently launched her eponymous shoe brand at Net-a –Porter and Harvey Nichols to name a few.

Webster’s signature style plays on saccharine colour palettes, hyper-real detailing and playful embellishments. There’s certainly an echo of her former boss, Kirkwood’s sculptural skills but Webster executes her designs in a much more youthful, playful way.

Highlights of her latest collection range from the Briar sandals complete with candy cane heels, to the more sophisticated and classic Riki cutout suede and leather heels.

Webster’s designs are certainly not for the feet of shy wallflowers – they’re statement heels crafted to make an impact. From laser-cut leather to ruffles, bows and Perspex paneling, Sophia Webster’s shoes are sure to make any evening outfit pop.

Heroes of the collection are the Lana embellished PVC and suede sandals priced at £395. Dainty T-bar straps, sweet ruffles and rainbow polka dots are given a sexy spin with clear PVC panels. Add them to your party portfolio and you’re bound to turn heads at cocktail hour.

Webster’s talents don’t just stop at shoes, this season she’s also added a selection of clutch bags to her accessory artillery. From a satirical ‘Hold Me’ Speech Bubble leather clutch (£340) to the more demure glitter finished Azealia box bag in vintage copper (£495); there’s plenty to choose from.

What’s most enamouring about Webster’s designs are that they’re so playful and fun, yet entirely wearable. With such a strong signature style, impeccable craftsmanship and nod to some of the season’s hottest trends; Sophia Webster is certainly one to watch.
