With a Top Note (the scent you smell first) of violet, a Heart Note (the ‘heart’ of the fragrance and an influence to the base note) of orris and a Base Note (the deeper, lasting scent) of sandalwood, this beautiful perfume creates a floral fragrance that doesn’t smell at all ‘girly’.
Master Perfumer, Pierre Négrin describes it perfectly: “We wanted to work with orris because it’s an extremely precious ingredient in perfumery. Orris is the root of the iris plant and it has been harvested in Tuscany for centuries, originally by monks. This scent was about framing the orris to bring out its unique duality; it is both woody and powdery, floral and deep. We achieved this by using other woods as well as painting a picture of the iris flower itself.”
For all you die-hard Jo Malone fans who are au fait with their layering technique; Mimosa & Cardamom or Dark Amber & Ginger Lily are recommended (the JM layering technique is where you layer your JM perfume with another JM perfume or lotion to make your own bespoke scent!).
