Launching in September 2017, Jo Malone London’s latest collection brings us two fabulous new colognes, English Oak & Redcurrant & English Oak & Hazelnut.
Created by Master Perfumer, Yann Vasnier, he explains his reasoning behind using oak;
“Oak is a beautiful, noble wood. It’s powerful and iconic …Oak has something unique. It’s majestic and mysterious.”
Often you see perfumes having notes of sandalwood and more commonly cedar wood, so it makes sense to incorporate Oak.
Apt for Autumn, use of Oak emanates thoughts of Country walks, wrapped up warm and roaring fires.
The first of the two fragrances English Oak & Redcurrant, consists of;
- Top: Redcurrant
- Heart: Rose
- Base: Roasted Oak Absolute
Described as bright, bewitching and embracing, there is a real romance to this scent. Use of the fruit and subtle floral notes alongside roasted oak, creates a Fairytale fragrance.
English Oak & Hazelnut features;
- Top: Green Hazelnut
- Heart: Cedarwood
- Base: Roasted Oak Absolute
Described as earthy, enticing and enchanting, this is a seductive number. There is a warmth and softness from the combination of oak, cedar wood and hazelnut which creates a fresh and sensual scent.
These scents alone are the perfect accessory to the coming Autumn months, however combining fragrances creates a perfect transitional scent. For example, teaming English Oak & Hazelnut with Basil & Neroli takes you nicely from Summer to Autumn, with its bright, flirty citrus scent.
Or perhaps try layering English Oak & Redcurrant with English Oak & Hazelnut, for a deeply fresh, spicy number with an edge.
