StyleNest are always excited to refresh our make up bag with new goodies. We don’t have any loyalty at all! A sucker for pretty packaging – a Marketing Manager’s dream….

A heinous sin for make up professionals or the old school – but impossible not to be, as someone as forgetful as us! We can’t even begin to tell you how many eyeliners we’ve left in bathrooms or lipsticks we’ve left in taxis!

So when the Clarins AW15 collection arrived on our desk, we were eager to give the shiny samples a whirl! A classic brand, with a devoted following, it is no surprise that they have focused on their popular eye products for this season, and that’s our specialty so we dived right in!

Defined brows can be layered to your hearts content with the super soft brow filler pencil (available in dark brown, light brown and soft blonde) and the super soft kohl (with useful sharpener) sorted our quickie routine in the mornings. However, meetings and post work events where we had a little more prep time, were a much more fun affair.

The 5–Day colour palette of eye shadows are made for festive shimmering- with easy to wear brown, taupe, beige, chestnut and pink which are great to layer and play with. They stay on longer with a base, and in theory give you a lot more than five colour options if you are inventive. Make up is after all a work of art.

Our overall fave products in the collection are the individual purple and black eye shadows…beware a little goes a long way. If you are going to make a statement at the Christmas do, you might as well go the whole hog- especially with black lace being so on trend for AW. Coupled with a smudge of ‘Crayon Khô’ in True Violet (£17), the attached brush is useful to create a smoky effect.

Our Christmas in July look was finished off by a slick of ‘Rouge Eclat’ lippie (£19.50). We like the fact it boosts collagen, apparently that’s got something to do with the mimosa, jojoba and sunflower extracts.

With two new shades, Tawny Rose and Red Paprika, this is one product we are going to do our best to hang on to.
