The Great British Bake-off is (finally!) back on our screens, and to celebrate, the Nai Harn Hotel in Phuket has launched beach-side baking classes. Nai Harn Beach has recently been named Thailand’s best beach by TripAdvisor – we can’t think of anywhere better to brush off our baking skills!
The Nai Harn was unveiled in January this year, and is now the ultimate in beachfront living. It looks out over the sparkling turquoise Andaman Sea, the only hotel positioned directly on Nai Harn Beach.
The classes are led by executive Pastry Chef and Master Baker, Daniel Back, who is keen to share his knowledge and passion with guests, no matter their age, experience or abilities. “Baking is something intrinsically linked with happy memories of shared celebrations and fond family moments. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to share with our guests my passion, which appeals to varied age groups, genders and cultures,” says Daniel.
If you have a sweet tooth, you’re in for a real treat. Classes include getting hands-on with chocolate and praline – you’ll have the opportunity to try making chocolate pralines, traditional fruitcake and chocolate cake. An interactive tasting session with Daniel tops off the class, and you’ll also get some sweet treats to take away with you.
Other classes on offer include bread-making, and a special cookies and cupcakes session for children. Whet children’s appetites for baking early with piping and decorating. Graduated mini-chefs will even receive a mini torque (chef’s hat, you and me!) to take home with them as a souvenir.
The beach-side bake-off classes are held in the open kitchen of the idyllic seafront Cosmo Restaurant, with a view out on to the ocean. Each class lasts for approximately 1-1.5 hours, giving you plenty of time to get stuck in to your creations. In order to ensure you get as much personal guidance and advice from the Master Baker, classes are limited to four people per class. If you ask us, it’s the perfect way to make your holiday just that extra bit indulgent.
The beach-side bake-off classes at the Nai Harn Hotel are priced at £50 per person per class and are available now.
