Right on Kew for Valentine’s Day at The Coach And Horses

Coach & HorsesTreat yourself (or someone else) to a romantic staycation this Valentine’s Day. With 14th February falling on a Sunday, enjoy a romantic weekend away from home, relaxing in luxury and charm at The Coach & Horses in Kew.

Although it’s accessible by London underground (just hop on the district line), Kew has a lovely quiet village feel and feels miles away from busy city life.

The hotel and pub is just mere moments from the world famous Kew Gardens (the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon), just a short stroll into Richmond along the River Thames, and a short walk to the station should you need to catch the tube the next morning!

The hotel has 31 boutique bedrooms (following a stunning refurbishment), a restaurant serving hearty country style food, a cosy library and a bustling pub.

When we arrived at the hotel after an afternoon of exploring Kew Gardens, we were shown to our room – a cosy pastel grey room with botanical print details in the fabrics and wallpaper.

After a drink in the busy library area we made our way to the quiet conservatory-style dining room, a homely room with mismatched chairs and wooden tables.

We ordered some starters – we recommend the pita bread and dips – and opted for a traditional Sunday roast for mains. The roast menu – you can choose from roast chicken, beef, lamb, pork or vegetarian nut loaf – come with all the trimmings including roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables and a lovely rich gravy. We washed it down with a Pinot Noir but struggled to make room for dessert – although the desserts did look rather tempting!

After a wonderful night’s sleep we awoke to a continental breakfast buffet and an a-la-carte breakfast menu. A quick bite and a cappuccino later and we were on the tube back to work – funnily enough we felt like we had had a proper holiday or weekend away, despite being just down the road!

Sound like your cup of tea? The hotel are offering a Valentine’s package which includes an overnight stay, cocktails on arrival, tickets to Kew Gardens, a three course dinner, a red rose awaiting you in your bedroom and breakfast the next morning, for a total price of £275 per couple.
