We should all be aware by now that electric toothbrushes are way better for your teeth than manual ones but unfortunately, they are not necessarily fool-proof. Or they weren’t, until now!
Being the ‘teeth-obsessive’ that I am, I have used an electric toothbrush for years, I floss daily and I use those little brushes between my teeth too, yet when I go for my dental check-ups I still have areas that I haven’t cleaned as thoroughly as I should. No big sticker for me then.
Largely this is to do with if you are left or right handed and therefore, the way you hold your toothbrush. In my case, it is also probably due to doing millions of other things whilst I’m brushing my teeth and trying to get out of the house on time every morning!

And, like any technology worth their weight these days, it comes with an app. Now, I’m not usually a big app fan (I’m always worried about storage space!) but this app is my new favourite toy! You sync your Oral-B GENIUS to you your smartphone via Bluetooth and by using the phone’s camera with the Position Detection Technology, the toothbrush’s sensor tells you where to brush, how long for and if you are applying too much pressure (brushing too hard is terrible for the gums and the enamel). There is a ‘focussed care’ section on the app that your dentist can use after check-ups to remind you of areas you need to spend more attention on and there is a ‘reminder’ section to remind you to brush your tongue, floss and use mouthwash! There is no getting away with anything less than perfect cleaning! Also on the app, and great for kids and adults alike, is the ‘brushing challenge’ where you can track brushing scores. I am totally obsessed!
The charge is good on the toothbrush and you can charge the sleek travel case too, which has a multi-voltage plug, making life so much easier when you travel. Oral-B really have thought of everything.
For me, dental hygiene is as much a beauty story as it is a health one; there is nothing more beautiful on a face than a sparkling, bright smile, and the only way to achieve and maintain one is via great dental care, daily.
