Bored of monotonous gym sessions, humdrum classes and dictatorial trainers? Not to fear, StyleNest have you covered, and we are pleased to announce that Kings Cross’s newest restaurant, German Gymnasium, and MW5 Fitness have arrived on the scene to steal your attention with their German Gymnasium Boot Camp.

The new D&D Group’s German Gymnasium restaurant will play host to a one-hour long class, filled with Victorian inspired activities that will get your heart exploding and fat burning. Your reward… a delicious breakfast at the restaurant with a special 20% discount for boot camp warriors only!

The class is held outside and begins with a robust warm up (very much needed in this blisteringly cold weather) before attendees are paired up to tackle the seven set circuit. Exercises are 45 seconds each and include a combination of jump roping, Indian club swinging (a sport they used to play in the building back in 1866!) and boxing with the grand master of MW5 himself, Moe. Moving at speeds unseen on a Sunday morning, and breaking press up scores, it’s clear that Moe, head personal trainer at MW5 Fitness, is what makes this boot camp killer. How does he do it? Not from shouting or grilling. Instead he inspires, teaches and smiles – it helps he is easy on the eyes! When it comes to the simple star jumping station, the class relief is unanimous. This is no boot camp for the faint hearted, but you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t after a serious sweat fest.

After an hour of heart pumping, the class is congratulated with some green juice shots before being invited into the warmth for a nourishing brunch.  The restaurant itself is a beautiful homage to the building it now occupies. Built in 1865, the building was England’s first ever purpose built gymnasium and hosted London’s first Olympic Games in 1866! Now, far from images of pumping iron and grunting men, the restaurant is sophisticated and features chinchilla marble, salmon pink and golds which complements the romantic large windows, spiralling stair cases, al fresco terraces and high ceilings.

The brunch menu consists of a wide range of options, from the virtuous, vegan chia seed pudding to their already famed ‘GG Breakfast’; a handsome take on the English fry up featuring grilled German sausages and perfectly crisp rostis. The menu also offers a number of delicious wholesome smoothies including the unique Full Tank, a protein and healthy fats filled powerhouse mix of: chia seeds, egg whites, coconut water, avocado and raspberry.  The main café menu is also available, should you be in need of lunch, with specialities including four different types of German sausage, veal schnitzel and calf’s liver ‘Berlin style’. For a sweet kick, you won’t find better apple strudel anywhere in London and their Sachertorte is on a par, offering the perfect consistency of silky chocolate heaven.

If you are looking for a unique way to switch up your workout regime or for an excuse to devour the German Gymnasium’s sumptuous menu, then this is the perfect solution. Classes are available to book via the MW5 website at www.mw5-fitness.com and breakfast can be booked via the German Gymansium website www.germangymnasium.com or by calling 0207 287 8000.

Classes for the public run on 21st February, 6th March, 20th March, 3rd April and 17th April and are £15 each.
