School of Wild

Schoold of WildIf your kids love being out in the open air, embracing little adventures, then this brand new project will definitely be of interest. Ben Fogle, the renowned broadcaster, traveller and adventurer, has launched a “School of Wild” project at The Lakes by yoo in the Cotswolds, with the aim of teaching children key wilderness skills.

Providing hands on experience, the course has been specially designed to educate children and adults about how to embrace the wild world in a fun and traditional environment. Survival techniques and how to live off the land are taught as well as raising an awareness of nature.

Located in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Lakes by yoo is set in 650-acres of countryside. With six lakes, 200 acres of wild woodland and treks/nature trails the private estate is the ideal retreat- and just a 90 minute drive from London.

As well as creating environmental appreciation through sustainable use of natural resources- Bushcraft skills are also taught at the outdoor school by ‘Wild Woman’ Zoe Atterbury. Her day long course involves fire lighting, shelter building, skinning rabbits and traditional rural skills such as wood carving, bow and arrow making, basket weaving and charcoal creation.

Overall it’s a fantastic way for children to learn about nature and wildlife, create some team building skills and above all have fun!
