London is one of the most famous cities in the world and attracts thousands of tourists each year. Typically tourists will check out the traditional attractions that the city has to offer such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the British Museum but what many people don’t know is that the city has a great deal of unusual and extraordinary activities that visitors and residents alike often miss out on.

You have to know where to look in order to find these hidden and more ‘secretive’ attractions amid this exciting city, which is why we have included just a few of the most ‘out of the ordinary’ activities you should try out the next time you are in the capital.

London Motorcycle Touring Club

If you’re more of the adventurous type then joining the London Motorcycle Touring Club will be right up your alley. They embark on long day trips, weekend breaks and the occasional tour abroad. To participate you will need a full bike license and a motorcycle, of course. Finding bike dealers in London should be your first priority if you want to join our own version of the Sons of Anarchy and feel the freedom of the open road. It is definitely a unique and worthwhile experience with the chance to meet like-minded people who love motorbikes just as much as you do.

Outdoor Movies

Ditch the traditional cinema experience for something a little more ‘outdoorsy’. London has a few outdoor movie events across the city from names such as the Rooftop Film Club and Luna Cinema. Park your bike and enjoy your favourite movies under the twinkling stars. It’s an especially great option for couples looking to enjoy a romantic date together and wanting something a bit different from the regular cinema attendance. These outdoor movie events usually take place from late spring to September.

Night at the Museum

Visit museums after dark with these superb museum tours that take place after the queues have left and the doors have been bolted shut. According to www.goodhousekeeping.co.uk on selected Fridays, the V&A and Tate Britain museum host ‘exclusive talks, live performances, film installations, debates and the opportunity to see current exhibitions without being elbowed out the way’. This can be an exciting experience that allows you to witness museums in a new and unique way.

Dennis Severs’ House

The Dennis Servers’ House is a type of museum in London that depicts historical living conditions in an eerie and captivating manner. It is described as being a time capsule attraction with 10 different rooms to explore, including a smoking room, kitchen and dining room etc. To heighten the mystery of the house, candles are kept burning in each room which casts a translucent glow into each. The American creator of the house, Severs is often seen as an imaginative genius who was able to accurately capture the everyday life of a family of Huguenot silk weavers.

Creepy Walking Tours

London has many different walking tours available in the city, one of them being the Jack the Ripper tour. According to www.city-discovery.com this tour captures the original tale of a man walking to work only to discover a murdered East End prostitute which began one of the most famous man hunts in the world. Another great tour that is more appropriate for kids is the Harry Potter walking tour that takes you to visit The Ministry of Magic and the Leaky Cauldron.
