The History Keepers

Damien Dibben’s debut novel is fast being hailed as the new Harry Potter. With a publicity slogan of “It’s Time For A New Hero” we think the hype could prove to be true.

The History Keepers

With publishing deals in over 30 countries and a movie deal with Working Title, it is clear to see why fans and critics alike are hailing The History Keepers as the new Harry Potter.

The hero of the story Jake Djones, finds out his parents have gone missing. But not only are they lost somewhere in the world they are also lost in time. It is then he discovers they belong to The History Keepers. The History Keepers are a secret society who travel through the centuries to prevent evil enemies from meddling with history. Dibben’s novel takes you from 21st Century London back to 19th Century France. You follow Djones’s adventure as he explores this other world, meets a host of extraordinary agents at Point Zero the HQ of The History Keepers, and learns of the evil Zeldt family and their plan to destroy the world as we know it.

Although this is Dibben’s debut novel he is not new to writing and has worked extensively as a screenwriter and has worked on projects such as Phantom of the Opera and Puss In Boots. However, thankfully for us he decided, as he puts it , ‘to write for myself’. Damien has a unique voice and clearly a great writing talent but it’s his imagination that brings The History Keepers to life.

He is a keen explorer and greatly inspired by archaeology and cosmology – something which is apparent through his writing. However it was in fact a ferry trip which sparked Dibben’s  imagination. ‘I looked at the horizon from the deck and realised it would have looked exactly the same thousands of years ago. In my story, history is a geographical place and everyone moves about on ships between different periods’.

The History Keepers is out now and we highly recommend it for your little adventurers. We certainly look forward to reading the next installment.
