River Island has just announced a rather exciting collaboration with Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. The Parisienne model and muse (and daughter of former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld) has created an exclusive collection for children from newborn to five-years-old, launching this autumn.
Roitfeld is the creative director of the hugely successful website, Romy and the Bunnies – an online platform offering lifestyle inspiration for modern mums, named after her own daughter, Romy.
Inspired by Julia’s younger years, love of vintage and Parisian roots the collection mixes classics styled in a quirky way. Lace dresses and silk blouses are paired with a leather biker for the girls, whilst grandad shirts and cable knit jumpers are teamed with cord trousers for the boys. There are also some standout unisex items such as an embroidered bomber jacket, denim dungarees and a borg lined denim jacket.
Julia delved into her private family photo archive and used old shots of her and brother Vladamir as children for inspiration whilst using more recent snaps of her daughter Romy as a starting point of the collection.
“My mum had so much fun dressing myself and my brother when we were little and now I am doing the same with Romy. I just want other parents to be able to have the same fun!” says Julia.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld x Mini collection is due to hit stores and online in October.
