We are halfway through the year and we can see interior design trends rising in popularity, and seeing others fall. Let’s dive into the biggest interior design trends we’ve spotted so far this year. Let us know which ones are your favourites?

Work Environments In The Home

Remote working is becoming the norm after being forced to change work styles back in 2020, and we believe that home offices are becoming more popular with the need for a private and productive space. It can be frustrating trying to work in an unsuitable environment, and a lot of people face uncomfortable seating and plenty of distractions while adjusting to the remote working style.

We can see lots of people sharing their #WFH set ups on Instagram, with people investing money into new office chairs and making their space their own, one of the benefits that remote working has over office working. Individuals may even be considering moving home so they have more space to accommodate a dedicated and private working area.

Mid-Century Modern Is Here To Stay

A trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, is the very popular mid-century modern design trend. Providing style inspiration for luxury hotels, restaurants, bars, TV shows and movies, you can understand why individuals are wanting to achieve this look in their own homes, it is everywhere.

The designs can fall into endless settings, being used in stylish industrial, minimal, contemporary, Bohemian, Scandinavian and more decor styles all over the world. Even though the pieces were designed over 50 years ago by the likes of Charles and Ray Eames, they still look as fresh today as they did back then. We spot the iconic Eames Chair designs all over social media and the internet, and with a design that is both comfortable yet stylish, we don’t blame people.

Earthy & Warm Hues

Greys have dictated the interior design world over the past years, but a major shift has started to take place as warmer hues are taking centre stage in more tranquil and inviting spaces. After Dulux announced their colour of the year for 2021 was Brave Ground, an earthy, warm brown that is set out to connect individuals with nature again, it was no surprise that this colour trend will soon start to take place.

An Uprise In Biophilic Inspired Homes

A technical term used to describe a love for nature and how as humans, we have an innate connection with mother nature, Biophilic design suggests we should approach design in a way that satisfies this connection. The premise of the design is bringing the outdoors in, and in an ever growing urbanised environment, this is becoming more relevant each day.

Scientific studies have found that nature makes us feel better and is beneficial for our health, so we think the Biophilic design trend will be a growing trend over the next few years.

Abstract Face & Line Art

On rugs, cushions, vases, plates, mugs and artwork, we are spotting abstract line art being used to decorate peoples homes. With a modern yet quirky touch, people are embracing the trend and making it their own.

Keep your eyes out for more exciting trends to come this year.
