Le Louis² Restaurant at La Tremoille

La Tremoille restaurant Louis² (10)During a recent stay at the wonderful five-star La Tremoille, StyleNest couldn’t resist the opportunity to sample some classic French cuisine in the hotel’s restaurant Le Louis².

Headed up by Fabrice Debois, Debois spent many years perfect his skills in Michelin-starred restuarants before moving to Le Louis², even working under Jean-Louis Nomicos, a former chef with Alain Ducasse. At Le Louis² he concentrates on high quality ingredients and seasonal produce to really bring out and enhance the flavours of his exceptional dishes.

We were greeted warmly by our waiter, and after already been impressed with the friendliness of the service throughout our hotel stay, the restaurant proved to be no exception. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful, even matching each of our courses to a wine for us when we admitted we were a little overwhelmed by the menu.

The menu featured many classic dishes but also plenty of lighter fish and vegetarian options, and there was just the right amount of choice for everybody. We started with the homemade duck foie gras with fig chutney and a fish tartare. Both were generous portions and came beautifully presented, and perfectly matched by our waiter to one of the restaurant’s many wines. The fig chutney was particularly delicious and we loved it paired with the duck tartare.

For our main dishes, we couldnt resist a classically French dish of rib steak with herbed butter with pont-neuf French fries, which was cooked perfectly, and wanting something lighter after the foie gras, we choose the salmon with green peas and sorrel cream sauce.

Of course dessert was a must, and after some deliberation as everything looked so tempting, we opted for the chocolate parfait and the ‘coffee gourmand’ a selection of the hotel’s miniature dessert accompanied by coffee. Both offered the perfect amount of sweetness and richness to finish our meal, the coffee gourmand a particulary good idea for sampling a few of the hotel’s desserts, and along with a glass of sweet dessert wine were the perfect ending to a delicious and indulgent meal.

Le Louis² restaurant is open everyday for lunch and dinner.
