Chiquito Launch New Menu

Chiquito FoodLast month, restaurant, bar and Mexican grill Chiquito launched their new menu, so we went along to try it for ourselves.

Heading to the Metrocentre in Gateshead restaurant, we were all set to tuck into some seriously tasty and vibrant flavours. The restaurant team welcomed us into the bright and bold décor of Chiquito, which had a bustling lunchtime ambiance. The UK’s largest Tex-Mex chain, Chiquito is a fun place to take the kids as well as a date night favourite for a few Mexican cocktails.

Latin-American music transported us away from the grey day outside, and we selected some starters. Making the most of their gluten-intolerant menu, to begin with I selected the Baked Potato Skins with Sweetcorn and Tomato Salsa. The Mr meanwhile chose Mexican Garlic Bread, made up of two flour tortillas baked in the oven.

Adding Street Food to their menu, we were keen to try this for our main course and my other half tucked into the the Spicy Chicken Crispy Tacos. I chose the Five Bean Chilli Taco; comprising oven-roasted sweet potato, peppers, courgette and onion mixed with the five bean chilli itself.  Packed full of mouth-watering flavours there are also burgers and fajitas, salads and wraps on offer.

Despite being absolutely stuffed with all this yummy food, it would’ve been rude not to partake in dessert. We both went for a moreish brownie, one with ice cream and one without. All the team were really helpful throughout, offering their own favourite recommendations to help us pick each course.

An absolutely delicious meal, next time we’ll be returning with the kids for breakfast. Their Smashed Avocado and Poached Eggs sounds scrumptious and I know the little ones would love the Bacon and Syrup Pancakes. And a cocktail alongside if that’s not too indulgent. There’s a Chiquito Mojito with my name on it…
