WORLD GIN DAY

You may be forgiven for feeling like there’s a ‘Day’ for something 365, if not more than one daily.

That said some are worth shining a light on, and toasting- when that can be with a martini, gimlet, bijou or French 75 so much the better- World Gin Day on June 9th offers you that chance.

Should the serendipity need to be more remarkable to convince you World Gin Day comes at the end of Negroni Week, so you can toast the Italian prince with a classic cocktail and cover both in a one-r.

Curated by the remarkable Gin Monkey (a singularly inappropriate title for scientist, writer, hooch polymath and party-starter extraordinaire Emma Stokes), World Gin Day has grown into a global celebration of all things delicious and juniper based since she took the helm in 2013, and the growth since its inception in 2009 has been as remarkable as the number of exceptional new gins which have been embraced by the public in recent years.

For the first time this year global celebrations have a 4 day extravaganza in London, as Emma has teamed up with the boozy visionaries at DrinkUp.London to create a festival with events across the capital.

With bespoke £6 gin cocktails for pass holders at more than 75 exceptional bars across the city, including Untitled, Dandelyan, Nine Lives, Callooh Callay and Oriole for festival pass holders, events across the city and the mighty Junipalooza festival over the weekend, the forecast is for gin and good times.

Wherever you are in the world, the popularity of gin has soared in recent years, and for good reason- we say raise a glass and gin for the win.
