Covetable from StyleDen – The first in a weekly series of things you don’t necessarily “need”, but which will make your life a little bit better. This week, it’s Tom Ford For Men. 

There are few things more appealing than a nice-smelling man. That, of course, strikes the balance between simply smelling, and smelling as if you have bathed in a vat of ‘Sex Panther’ eau de toilette, neither of which are a good thing.

As such, Tom Ford for Men offers masculine strength coupled with a sophistication you (and I) quite probably don’t have.

It is a woody, floral musk, which it seems to my uneducated olfactory system a good thing. It also has notes of ginger, mandarin, pepper and vetiver, amongst other alchemy.

While this reminds me of a lot of whisky tasting notes (which say things like ‘on the palette conjures a walk through a damp meadow last March after a nap, a bag of pickled onion monster munch and an apple’ ), I can confirm that is it is tremendous, and has prompted more unsolicited statements of ‘you smell lovely’ than before I used it.

That said, I haven’t shaved for a very long time…..
