My only complaint with Copenhagen company Rains when choosing an item for this Covetable is an odd one. 

When I arbitrarily choose a piece which appeals by a brand the choice is relatively simple. Not this time. 

Until recently I was convinced that I should focus upon their excellent outdoor sports jacket The Breaker. 

Moments later the limited edition Ripples Bag was an obvious standout. 

You get the idea. Seldom has a company’s aesthetic been so consistently (and infuriatingly) appealing that I could have chosen pretty much anything they make. 

At the basic level Rains does what it says on the tin- creates great pieces inspired by the fact that Copenhagen gets a lot of rain. 

Beyond that, what is striking is the attention to detail design and materials wise; the level of commitment to make pieces which look so simple and functional, yet stand out as great design.

That in part is what led me to their Grey Parka- updating such an iconic shape could be fraught but Rains have pulled it off with aplomb. 

In matt grey using their lightweight waterproof fabric, it has an effortless cool beyond the undeniable functionality. 

Whether you’re out and about for the weekend, commuting, en route to the gym or indeed anywhere it might, well, rain, this grey parka will swiftly become a wardrobe staple for the discerning, dry gent.
