In an ode to the humble handbag, infamous luxury London department store Harrods, launch their Summer ‘13 Harrods Handbag Narratives campaign.
There’s certainly no decline in the luxury market if Harrods’ summer campaign is anything to go by. Celebrating over a decade of success in their accessories and handbags departments, Harrods have teamed up with 20 luxury fashion brands to create an impressive window display and exhibition dedicated to that every day must-have – the handbag.
Running until Saturday 24 August, the Handbag Narratives will showcase ‘sensational stories through beautiful bags’. Expect the cream of the crop when it comes to arm candy, as the likes of Gucci, Prada, Miu Miu and Mulberry will be partnering Harrods to create glorious window displays inspired by, and celebrating some of their finest handbags.
Luxury Italian label and creators of many an It-bag, Prada have even exclusively designed a giant Galleria tote in navy ostrich leather – yours if you can pick up the £36,000 price tag.
Whilst Fendi have been inspired by the iconic ‘Harrods’ green, decking out five exclusive versions of their 2.Jours bag in the recognisable shade. Other exclusives come from the likes of Britain’s luxury frontrunners, Burberry and Victoria Beckham.
If you’re not planning to invest there’s still plenty to see throughout the store, including the transformation of the Brompton Road window displays. Giant versions of some of the fashion world’s most lust-after bags have invaded the store’s windows in epic proportions. From Chloé’s minimalist behemoth of a transparent tote, to Fendi’s titanic, animal print shoulder bag- they make our oversized Mulberry’s look petite in comparison.
