Sophia Webster and J. Crew Collaboration

Sophia Webster J Crew shoe illustrationBritish shoe designer of the moment, Sophia Webster teams up with cult American fashion brand, J. Crew for an exclusive collaboration.

Collaborations like this don’t come up often, so listen up. Two of our favourite brands from the world of fashion have joined forces this season, for a unique footwear collaboration.

British accessories designer, Sophia Webster has created a capsule collection for  Ready-To-Wear heavyweight, J. Crew. The collection, which comprises 12 designs, was first showcased as part of J. Crew’s New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’14 presentation, but will be available to buy early next year.

“The collection is really fun and feminine, very me, but still a hybrid of the two brands,” Webster told WWD.The brand has a real sense of fun and colour that I love, and I think that my designs complement their clothes well.”

Webster’s designs have featured everything from pink flamingos to candy canes, polka dots to kissable lips. The J. Crew collection holds that same quirky sensibility but watered down a little to appeal to a wider market.

There are classic pointed courts in zesty shades of orange and lemon polka dot, and a chic navy pair adorned by an Art Deco inspired print. Reflecting one of next season’s biggest trends, there’s a monochrome pair too in Sophia’s favoured ankle-strapped stilettos, as well as her signature sandals with cut-out leather and metallic detailing.

Our favourite pair however are the tartan peep-toe sandals with multi-strap ties – they’re almost a modern version of Vivienne Westwood’s iconic 90s’s tartan strappies. If only we could invest now, they’d be perfect for this season’s punkish vibe.

J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons described the British designer’s shoes as “miniature sets—a beautiful world for your feet to spend the day in.”

We could agree more. Credit cards at the ready next season.
