New Year: New Outfit?

With the end of the year fast approaching, we’re now firmly into party season. From the annual office party to family get-togethers and nights out with friends, there is always another occasion marked on the calendar!

But as another festive season begins to pass by, it’s time to wave goodbye to 2017 and welcome 2018 with open arms. Whether it’s a delayed ‘do or an extravagant New Year’s bash, why not make the most of the opportunity and go all out for the occasion?

Of course, it’s no secret that money is often tight for many people after all the spending and indulgence of Christmas. However, isn’t the arrival of the New Year arguably just as important an event as the most wonderful time of the year? Plus, looking great doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank, as it’s just as possible to create the perfect party look on a budget as when you let your spending run wild.

Fashion is all about individuality and letting your unique personality shine through – make sure that you’re making the most of this through your own style this New Year.

We all know the old saying – ‘New Year, new start’ – but how many of us take these familiar words to heart? Whether it’s half-hearted New Year’s resolutions or a failed attempt at spring cleaning or decluttering, by the end of January, the majority of us have given up any hope of a fresh start.

However, why not let your style dictate your approach to the New Year in 2018?

Start the year as you mean to go on with a brand new wardrobe and a unique take on accessories, clothing and fashion ready to take the world by storm. It might seem like a daunting task, but approach it carefully and plan things out, and before you know it, you will be looking like a whole new person!

Declutter

Before you start to look into updating your wardrobe and (the most exciting part!) buying some new bits and pieces to wear, the first step should be to get rid of the old in preparation for the new.

Go through your existing wardrobe and make a note of everything you have, either mentally or on paper – whatever works best for you! That way, you can then work to actively slim down your stash with the confidence that you won’t be missing anything important. If you can, get rid of anything you haven’t worn and can’t see yourself wearing in the future. If something doesn’t fit, get rid of it. Once you have a pile of things to throw out, you can then either get rid of them, sell them on or donate them to charity, depending on the quality.

Refresh

If you’re on a strict budget following the Christmas spending period, don’t worry – with some creativity and a little flair, you can update your existing wardrobe without spending at all! Try out different combinations of clothing, shoes, jewellery and accessories, or try mixing and matching between layers, colours, patterns and fabrics.

Not sure if something will work? There’s only one way to find out! Above all else, fashion should always be enjoyable and exciting, so have some fun and breathe a new lease of life into your wardrobe this New Year.

Accessorise

Are you suffering from a case of the January Blues? A great way to reintroduce some light and positivity into your life during the cold winter months is to experiment with your choice of accessories.

From chunky knitted scarfs, hats and mittens to jewellery and other accessories like bags and shoes, there are always plenty of different options just waiting to be explored. For women, stunning jewellery will ensure you dazzle at any New Year’s events, or for men, rock the suave look with a sophisticated pair of designer cufflinks. Statement pieces may be an investment, but after all, they are guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Getting your wardrobe ready for the New Year might be a time-consuming task, but by taking the right steps, it won’t be long before you and your wardrobe are ready for everything the New Year has in store!
