New Mulberry AW13 Campaign

Mulberry AW13 Campaign with Cara holding an owlModel of the moment, Cara Delevingne fronts woodland inspired new Mulberry AW13 campaign.

One of Britain’s biggest fashion exports, Mulberry has enlisted the help of It-girl and modern supermodel, Cara Delevingne to front their latest campaign.

Released just weeks after former Mulberry creative Emma Hill announced her departure from the luxury brand, the campaign perhaps opens a new phase for Mulberry. Who is to take over from Hill is yet to be announced, but whatever the outcome, it is an exciting year for the Brit label.

Shot by celebrated photographer Tim Walker and directed by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, the AW13 campaign is as wonderfully whimsical as ever, following on from SS13’s underwater theme and woodland setting the season before.

Cara sits doll-like in a quintessentially British stately home, Shotover House in Oxfordshire, amongst unexpected trees and a host of baby owls. You may have seen Cara’s Tweet a few months back of her snuggled up against one of her furry owl friends, which quickly went viral, giving everyone a sneak peak of what to expect from Mulberry’s new campaign.

Mulberry AW13 Campaign with Cara and OwlsAlthough the campaign has a young vibe no thanks to Cara’s appearance, the clothes from the new collection are mature and elegant, with a grown up vibe. Sumptuous burgundy leather is worked into caped coats with matching totes and gloves. Whilst in complete contrast, head-to-toe white makes up a beautiful 60s inspired trouser suit.

In true Mulberry signature style, layers are made up of chunky knits, warm wools and touches of leather, whilst a muted palette of black, white, grey and camel are given pops of unexpected colour with emerald green totes and burgundy heeled loafers.

Bags are an integral part of the collection as ever, with the iconic Bayswater tote reworked in an autumnal colour palette from oxblood to taupe. Whilst the latest favourite, the Mulberry Willow, frequently spotted on the arm of Kate Moss comes in deep burgundy with polished gold detail.

“The Autumn Winter 2013 collection was inspired by the English countryside and cosy, familiar rural scenes but with a dark, mysterious and seductive veil,” says Hill of the collection.

Ladylike primness with a unexpected edge? This is what we know and love Mulberry for.
