Iconic accessory designer Lulu Guinness celebrates turning 25 with an exclusive Polaroid project.
Bold, kitsch, and all-out vintage glamour are the unique qualities we all know and love about Lulu Guinness’ eponymous accessory label. So it only seems fitting then that the cult British designer and accessory aficionado is going all out with a host of appropriately fabulous celebrations for this year’s 25th anniversary.
Since starting out in her basement in 1989 with no formal training, Lulu and her instantly recognisable bags have come a long way. Now with an OBE, Lulu Guinness designs have been exhibited in both the V&A and at Sotheby’s, which is more reason than ever to celebrate the best of British.
So while we’re chomping at the bit to get our hands on the yet-to-be-released limited edition Lulu Guinness Polaroid and film set, there’s a rare and captivating installation which has caught our attention.
Lulu and The Impossible Project are embarking on creating an installation made entirely of Polaroids which will be unveiled at London Fashion Week in September. But in order to achieve this, they need you – yes you – to get involved.
Inspired by Lulu’s iconic lips clutch – which everyone from Kate Moss to Helena Bonham Carter have in their eveningwear arsenal – each and every Polaroid featured in the installation will contain a photograph of someone’s lips – whether that’s someone Lulu has worked with over the last 25 years, a celebrity fan or a supporter of the brand.
So how can you get involved? Well, to take part in this momentous occasion, all you simply need to do is take a snap of your lips and send to [email protected] where it’ll then be turned into a Polaroid and included in the final installation. Now all you need decide is whether to go for pink or red lippy….
