Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama

Louis Vuitton and Yayoi KusamaLuxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama have teamed up for a collaboration the fashion world are going dotty for.

Global brand, Louis Vuitton are back with their support of Japanese art in a collaboration with cult Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

The LV collection showcases the iconic work of one of one of Japan’s most celebrated avant-garde artists, Yayoi Kusama and translates her signature polka dot print into Louis Vuitton’s luxury style.

Fashion has long held an affinity for the humble polka dot, bringing it back season after season in accessories, print and shape. So too has Kusama, whose use of dots has adorned and shaped everything from mirrors to huge amorphous inflatable shapes – so it seems fitting the two have teamed up.

The collection which has already hit stores  and comprises clothing and luxury accessories all in a vibrant colour palette of sunshine yellow, deep saffron, pillar-box red and monochrome shades. The collection is certainly fun, but entirely wearable with statement cropped trousers, practical trenches and cute silk shifts all making an appearance.

The monochrome polka dot prints nod to LV Creative Director, Marc Jacobs’ own AW11 collection for his eponymous label. The latest LV Yoyoi Kusama collaboration follows the same spirit, with 60s inspired shifts, cropped cigarette pants and Modish cardigans.

The accessories will add a playful, kitsch touch to your look with polka dot statement sunglasses, patent ballet pumps and luxe red and white silk scarves – think a grownup, chic take on Minnie Mouse.

The first instalment of the collection has hit stores already, with another drop hitting Selfridges exclusively on 24 August. Sure to sell out fast, this is one collaboration the fashion world are sure to go dotty for.
