Two of Britain’s most popular institutions have joined forces this spring as Liberty London and Dr. Martens have together created a collection of boots and bags. Merging together pretty Liberty print florals and tough Dr. Marten leather, it’s an unlikely collaboration but one that works very well.
Launching Tuesday 1 May in store and online, the exclusive collection comprises boots, shoes and satchels all in vibrant, floral prints. Inspired by both brands’ heritages, the theme for the collection is ‘Wild Beauty’ – joining together the refined, traditional Liberty print that has become synonymous with the British store, and the rebellious ethos Dr. Martens has acquired since dressing the feet of London’s punks in the late 1970s.
Two boot styles are on offer, the iconic Dr. Martens 8 Hole Boots and a more streamlined, 7 Hole Boot which works better with pretty summer dresses or skinny jeans. With festival season creeping up on us, make sure your feet are suitably dressed for all weather conditions. The Martens Flower Liberty Print 8 Hole Boots (£170 at Liberty.co.uk) should do the job, keeping your feet dry, and stylish at the summer festivals. If the floral prints seem a little out there, the Red Canvas 7 Eye Evan Boots (£120 at Liberty.co.uk) will work well with summer denim, or to toughen up a sweet summer tea dress. With a more tapered style, they’ll nod to Dr. Martens’ punkish style without feeling too clunky.
The collection also includes four satchels expertly crafted by a family-owned leather goods manufacturer based here in the UK. The shape is inspired by Dr. Martens’ hard-wearing legacy of work wear, infused with the ultra feminine Liberty prints, making for really practical bags which won’t scrimp on style. We’ll be wearing ours with a boyish vibe, think boyfriend jeans, Oxford brogues and a Chambray buttoned-up shirt.
The Liberty London for Dr. Martens collection is available now at Liberty.
