Fair Fashion Fair Pop-Up, Notting Hill

Fair Fashion FairThe Fair Fashion Fair pops up in London’s Notting Hill this September, to raise money and awareness for mental health charity, Mind.

Fair Fashion Fair is the brainchild of one-time London College of Fashion student, Jade Alice Galston. Pulling together her love of fashion and her hunger to give something back, Fair Fashion Fair was born – an initiative that highlights the importance of charity shop shopping.

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September, Fair Fashion Fair will team up with UK charity Mind, to host a pop-up store in London’s trendy Notting Hill. Amongst the rails and rails of items, visitors will find style gems from A.P.C. to Christian Dior.

Sure to be a haven for thrifty vintage enthusiasts, the Fair Fashion Fair initiative works to bring charity shop shopping into the limelight, free from any preconceived ideas people may have of it. Each and every piece, be it clothing, accessories or furniture, sold at the pop-up events has been originally sourced from charity shops, and so has not only donated to charity the first time round but will do so again once it is sold on at the Fair Fashion Fair events.

The chosen charity for Fair Fashion Fair’s latest pop-up is Mind – a UK based company that works with those that suffer from mental illness. The charity also works hard to abolish the stigmatism that comes with mental health in general.

At its core, Fair Fashion Fair is a socially conscious brand, but one what was spawned by the all too frequent desire for over the counter culture here in the UK. Founder Jade was herself a self-confessed high street fan who would not think twice about over indulging in the cheap and cheerful high street brands each month. So, she took up the challenge to break the habit and instead only shop in charity shops for a whole 12months – a journey she candidly talked about in London’s Evening Standard newspaper. The story culminated in the launch of Fair Fashion Fair, which now partners a host of charities with pop-up initiatives.

The Fair Fashion Fair for Mind pop-up will take place on 8 and 9 September 2012, so get yourselves down there and give something back. Who knows, another person’s junk could be your gem.

Fair Fashion Fair will take place at The Print Rooms, 34 Hereford Road (just off Westbourne Grove) Notting Hill, London. Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2012 10am-6pm.
