Celia Birtwell Teams Up With Uniqlo For Second Collection

models wear Celia Birtwell X Uniqlo CollectionJapanese high street brand, Uniqlo have teamed up with iconic British designer Celia Birtwell for a second season running.

After the sellout success of the debut collection, British designer Celia Birtwell has launched a second diffusion line with global high street store, Uniqlo.

The designer, whose distinctive prints epitomised London’s 60s and 70s fashion scene, has spoken enthusiastically of the reunion.

“I had such a good time with my first season that I was delighted when Uniqlo asked me to do a second,” Birtwell told British Vogue. “They have been a wonderful company to work for so it was an easy decision for me to make.”

The collection will follow on from the first Uniqlo line, with her signature prints and archive designs taking centre stage. For AW13 a luxury edge has been added too, as silk appears in the collection for the very first time. With prices starting at just £12.90 for a t-shirt, the collection offers a cheap and cheerful way to buy into a little bit of Celia.

We were fans of collection number one here at StyleNest, but the follow up line has outdone itself. The silk shirt dresses are ideal for the office – we’ve already got our eyes on the red, blue and black geometric print. Whilst the printed powder pink scarf is perfect for adding a touch of girlishness to your look, as well as it being the shade to be seen in next season.

Celia hopes that the collection will offer “colour and humour, “ to customers. Two things Uniqlo, and her do so well. “I hope that people think they’re fun, and will wear them with a smile.” We’re sure they will Celia.

The Celia Birtwell X Uniqlo AW13 collection will be available from Thursday 22 August 2013. Prices start from £12.90.
