British Fashion Through the Years

There have been many different types of styles through the years, this list will take you through famous styles from the years 1950 all the way to 1990. These styles include Teddy Boy, a trend that first started in the year 1950. Teddy boys are commonly known by following the American rock n roll. Their attire would normally consist of a slim tie, high-necked shirt and tapered trousers. Next would be the Mods, Mod being short for modernist first came on to the scene in the 1960’s was a social group that only wore bold clothing.

Next still in the 1960’s Rockers, they were bitter rivals of the mods, they also took a lot of the inspiration from their clothing from the teddy boys, which were very much in fashion a decade before. All of this great information has been brought to you from Stand-out, The rockers attire would commonly consist of a leather jacket, a white t-shirt and black jeans. Next is the Skinheads, many skinheads grew up in the same depressed area as west Indian immigrants, they were naturally influenced by Jamaican fashion. Next in the list is Hippie, this was brought into fashion in the late 60’s, you would see the common hippie sporting messy- curly dreadlocks, a t-shirt with tie-dye or floral patterns, bell bottom jeans.

Finally, there is Ravers that came into fashion into the 90’s, this style came into fashion at the same time acid house music became popular. Similar to the hippie look of the late 60’s you would commonly see them sporting a bucket hat, glow sticks and classic trainers.
