It’s been confirmed, American womenswear designer Alexander Wang will be the next designer to create a diffusion line for global high street store, H&M.

It’s been a good few years for young NY-based designer Alexander Wang. His eponymous label has hit high end success in a matter of years and he recently took on the post of creative director at Balenciaga.

To his already jam-packed schedule, Wang will add a diffusion line for H&M, due to launch globally in store and online. The partnership will include a womenswear, menswear and accessories line.

“I am honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations,” Wang said of the collaboration. “The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”

Wang chose to reveal the news on his Instagram account, uploading a video showing a basketball scoreboard with a digital countdown to “Wang X HM”. He later hosted a party at this year’s Cochella music festival in celebration of the news.

Best known for his sports luxe style and androgynous separates; expect both the women’s and men’s lines to be full of Wang-esque monochrome, modernist silhouettes and perhaps a few slogan pieces as he’s been favouring of late.

The Alexander Wang for H&M collection follows on from an impressive list of past designers who have teamed up with the high street store. The likes of Stella McCartney, Marni, Lanvin and most recently, Isabel Marant all had sell-out collections and wrap-around-the corner queues.

Wang’s announcement confirms that the H&M designer diffusion line is still one of the best we have on the high street.

The Alexander Wang X H&M collection will be unveiled on November 6.
