SpaThali: revive, refresh and Rejuve with The LaLiT London

Moments from the Tower of London and a stone’s throw from the heart of the city is located The LaLit London. Situated within a stunning 120-year-old neo-baroque building which was previously the home of St. Olave’s Grammar School, The LaLit London offers a contemporary fusion of Indian hospitality with old school British charm.

Upon arriving at The LaLit London, the hotel’s heritage is still intact, however, that gut-wrenching back to school notion has been replaced with calmness and tranquility. The school hall has transformed into a stylish Pan-Indian restaurant and the Teacher’s Room to a cocktail bar with bold colours and opulent furnishings as a nod to the hotel’s Indian origins.

StyleNest visited the hotel’s Rejuve spa offering a range of Western therapies blended with Eastern traditions at the core.

After a blustering journey consisting of a cab, a tube and a long walk in the rain, I was definitely in the mood to relax, unwind and just simply…let go. The Shiro and Pad Abhyangam treatment is a 60-minute herbal oil head and foot massage. ‘Shiro’ in Sanskrit means ‘Head’ and ‘Abhyanga’ – Ayurvedic herbal oil massage. This Ayurvedic warm oil massage focuses on the head, hair, neck and shoulders. Designed to relieve tension through the philosophy of Ayurveda, the massage helps to release blocked negative energy as well as enhance toxin circulation.

Pad Abhyanga ‘Pada’ in Sanskrit means ‘foot’ and ‘Abhyanga’ – Ayurvedic herbal oil massage. In Ayurveda, ‘Pada’ or ‘Foot’ is considered as an important motor organ and ancient therapeutic traditions follow the philosophy that our body and soul are connected and embodied in our feet. Just as the trees are nurtured at their roots and the fruits are obtained in their branches, if the feet are looked after then there are many benefits to the rest of the body. The treatment immediately alleviates dryness and sluggish circulation in the lower leg and foot as well as helps to calm the mind and revitalises the central nervous system whilst promoting sleep.

Upon arrival, on a scale of 1-10 stress levels, I can firmly say I was a solid 10. After a few minutes of massage, all my tension seemed to melt away, with my anxious thoughts dispersed and my mind becoming clear. I left feeling renewed, energised and ready to tackle the rest of the day.

The SpaThali package is designed to enhance bonds with friends and loved ones as you can enjoy a 60-minute herbal oil head and foot massage, Shiro and Pad Abhyangam treatment followed by a Winter Warming Thali at the hotel’s pan-Indian restaurant Baluchi. Dishes include; including Kaafir Lime Chicken Tikka, Baingan Bharta and Lahsooni Palak. Both Thalis are accompanied by a complimentary Jeeva organic coconut water.
