Selfridges Oxford Street have just launched their biggest department to date, a 37,000 square foot space dedicated to body, strength and health, it’s incredible!

Featuring over 100 new and classic brands with prices ranging from £8-£2500, there really is something for everyone; there’s a Fit Studio for everyday and specialist bra fitting, a designer lingerie area (including Agent Provocateur and La Perla of course), a fun knicker bar, hosiery section, loungewear, active wear and sun & swimwear! I said it was big!

Then there is the pièce de résistance; the Daniel Galvin salon and Hemsley + Hemsley Café. The Daniel Galvin salon has taken up permanent residency in the Body Studio, offering the world class colour services and luxury hair styling you would expect from such an iconic name in hairdressing. What you might not expect is the huge and bright space it is set in, it’s stunning. It was very busy when I visited the salon but there was no feeling of chaos, instead it actually felt very serene – like one of the ultra-cool and airy salons you might only expect to see in New York.

All the staff are so experienced you instantly feel at ease, helped along by the family feel of the place (just like Selfridges originated, Daniel Galvin is a family run business with son James and daughter Louise being an integral part of the design of the Selfridges space). I had a Kérastase Fusio-Dose treatment, a tailor-made solution to tackle multiple hair needs – it’s like a prescription for your hair! I’ve tried many hair treatments over the years and Kérastase is always on my list of favourites but this is the one I would recommend to everybody. The bespoke treatment consists of a Concentrate and a Booster (decided on by your hairstylist based on what your concerns are and what they feel will best benefit you) my damaged and frizzy hair begged for the Reconstruction Concentrate with the Discipline Booster, and after my AMAZING blow dry by Style Director, Clayton I was left with silky-shiny-swishy hair! I loved it and it lasted for days – the true test of a good blow dry.

All the while I was eating a delicious and healthy breakfast of buckwheat porridge (with seasonal fruits, bee pollen and gogi berries!) from the Hemsley + Hemsley Café next door. Their menu is filled with health and more importantly flavour and yet accommodates to your favourites (i.e. builder’s tea for me!).

This entire space is so well thought through and a delight to spend time in, such a lovely celebration of our bodies and everybody.
