Thameen launches new perfume The Cora

Luxury perfume house Thameen has unveiled its latest fragrance, The Cora, inspired by the largest, yellow, pear-shaped diamond in the world, The Cora Sun-Drop Diamond.

Weighing in at an eye-opening 110.3 carats, the diamond’s beautiful golden colour is the result of tiny amounts of nitrogen that were trapped in carbon molecules when The Cora was formed between 1 and 3 billion years ago.

However, the diamond remained undiscovered until 2010 when it was found in South Africa. Just a year later it was sold at auction in Geneva for nearly £7 million to an anonymous buyer.

It is now the latest rare and precious gemstone to inspire the luxury British fragrance house Thameen, which has attempted to recreate its beauty in a scent.

The new fragrance has captured in its top notes floral bursts of white jasmine, magnolia, and wisteria, and in keeping with The Cora’s famous sun-drenched colour, vivid- yellow Bulgarian roses.

Middle notes of carnation and lily of the valley are combined with gently spiced nutmeg and vanilla to add warmth, and complemented with golden amber, patchouli and white musk in the base.

The result is a soft and feminine fragrance designed to be light enough for summer days, but as classically beautiful as its namesake.

The Cora is available on Thameen’s own website and exclusively at Selfridges priced £145.
