The story began in Paris when Doctor Hertzog came across a book of spells featuring a youth elixir used by Queen Isabella of Hungary. Rumoured to have enticed the King of Poland, 35 years her junior with her youthful complexion, Doctor Hertzog took the findings to Mathilde Thomas where they reworked the original formula to help create a contemporary adaptation.

In 1996, Beauty Elixir was born featuring a concoction of natural ingredients benzoin to soothe, myrrh to renew, rosemary essential oil to purify, lemon balm to calm, peppermint to stimulate and orange blossom to soften as well as rose for radiance and grape pulp extract for Caudalie’s signature moisturising ingredient.

Adored by many, including actresses, stylists and models, Mathilde has decided to create a limited edition bottle, collaborating with L’Wren Scott for the ultimate stylish collector’s addition bottle.

“I worked on the bottle at the same time as my 2013 fall/winter collection, which was inspired by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. I borrowed the idea of mosaics and a female silhouette. I treated this collaboration like an art project.” – L’Wren Scott
