Pack Your Bags

Learn how to beat those stubborn eye bags with StyleNest’s Beauty Bird, Elle Tucker.

Not so long ago, I was talking to you about morning eye puffiness – my current beauty bugbear. Well, that bugbear has a new partner in crime: eye bags. Have two children and a penchant for Shiraz finally caught up with me? I seem to be developing luggage, and I haven’t even got plans to go on holiday…

Let’s not panic. Instead, we’ll call in the cavalry – here are my top five hardworking eye products to beat the baggage and avoid that whole ‘sunglasses on the school run when it’s not even sunny’ look, which fools nobody.

First up is a wondrous new invention from Thalgo: Hyaluronic Eye Patch Masks (£34). These are just the business when you wake up to find a suitcase under each peeper. Lay one under each eye (they are soaking wet with actives) and leave on for ten minutes while you make a quintuple espresso. You’ll look human by 8am. A miracle.

Next is something from Healgel. I really like this brand – the packaging is just my thing and the products are far from disappointing. For my eye bags, I’ve been using Healgel Eye (£32), which contains old favourites arnica, peptides and hyaluronic acid to get to work on puffiness, but diminish lines and wrinkles longer term too. Perfect for the morning, after a couple of the Thalgo masks, as it sinks in quickly pre makeup.

HEALGEL

Another morning favourite is this zingy number from Yon-Ka – Phyto-Contour (£35). I love this: it contains rosemary and smells gorgeously aromatic, a real wake-up call for the eye area. And – bonus – you can use it on your lips too. Who doesn’t love a multi-tasker?

In the evening, I’m really taken with Aromatherapy Associates Eye Cream (£62) from their new Rose Infinity range. Containing Edelweiss stem cells (yes, really), it’s luxurious, calming and smoothing on puffy-looking eye areas. I can tell I loved this one: I finished it – and used nothing else until I had.

Finally, a new brand alert: The Body Deli, a range of superfood products from California that has ‘chefs’ who make up small, fresh batches of skincare using raw superfoods and clinical actives. I’m smitten, especially by their Firming Flax Eye Cream (£28), a bag buster thanks to its coconut oil, carrot and flax. Well worth a try.
