Nice To Make Your Acquaintance

You’ve probably noticed this already, but there are a lot of beauty brands out there. Whether you’re browsing online or wandering about the shops, you’re always going to stumble on something new. But then, if you’re like me, you think, “Do I want to commit 40 quid to this eye cream?” Because just because you haven’t heard of it, that doesn’t make it any good. A bit like Justin Bieber.

So I thought this week I’d share with you a few brands I’m not sure you’ll have heard of. First up is Sophyto. This stuff is all about balance – creating the optimum pH and moisture levels in your skin so it just looks after itself.

Sophto Serum

The Anti-aging Antioxidant Serum (£31.95) is just what you would want from a serum, light but power-packed. Smells a bit like ginger wine but I can live with that.

I wondered how a range could be around for over half a century without me knowing about it, but Yon-Ka is such a range. It’s OK though, because they have J-Lo and Jennifer Aniston using their stuff so they’ll manage without me.

Yon Ka Day Cream

I love the Vital Defense Day Cream (£42.00), the perfect not-too-heavy texture to pop makeup straight on top.

Also from France comes Kaé Argatherapy, a brand with credentials so organic you could eat your dinner off them. Their Moroccan Natural White Clay (£14) is the one you get at spas called ‘rhassoul’ and fab if you have an hour spare to come over all hammam.

Mix with water, slap on face, hair, body… and let the minerals do their stuff.

I’ve mentioned Angela Langford on here before but I’m going to repeat myself because I’m a little bit obsessed. Angela makes her products at her home in Somerset and she is just getting it so right. Her Perfect Pores serum (£26.55) and Balanced & Beautiful face oil (£22.55) is an amazing duo for normal/combination skin like mine that needs some wrinkle defence too. Loving her work.

A final shout out to Dr Bronner’s, who I keep telling people about because I adore their soaps (from £1.99).

Dr Bronners Soap

They come in either liquid or solid form, are made from a combination of organic extra virgin coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp oils, together with pure essential oils, and you can use on your hair, face, kids, you name it. Even your Justin Bieber.
