In with the new

I love discovering a new skincare range. I get really excited about everything from the packaging and the names of the individual products to the smells and textures. In the last few months I’ve tried lots of brands – they’re not all new, just new to me, but I thought I’d share my favourites with you.

First up has been my biggest brand crush since I discovered Elemis many years ago. Oskia just ticks every box: the name, the ethos, the branding – and, last but definitely not least, the wonderful products. The Renaissance Cleansing Gel (£28) is probably my top pick from the range and a good ‘starter’ product if you haven’t tried Oskia before.

OskiaAdam & Eve didn’t get me remotely excited to start with – I saw the phrase ‘acne-prone’ and assumed it wasn’t for me. Thankfully, I gave it a whirl and I am smitten. If, like me, you still get a break out here and there, this is a great range to have in your armoury to clarify and freshen your skin. My recommendation is the wonderfully healing, calming Perfecting Serum (£22).

Herbalife is a huge global brand that sells in a similar way to Avon, through consultants, and has a lovely ‘no nasties’ policy. The products are also unisex which is a nice touch, although my other half probably has too much beard to benefit. My favourite from the range is the Daily Glow Moisturiser (£32.65), a great all-rounder that smells just lush.

Patsy Kensit has rather good skin, and always struck me as a good egg, so I gave her new range Preciously Perfect a whirl, and it turns out is rather super. It’s kind of old-fashioned and smells like playing with all the bottles on your mum’s dressing table when you were a kid. I am totally sold on the Smooth and Brighten Eye Cream (£19.99), which de-puffs like a dream but also contains light-reflecting particles that blur the fine lines while it gets to work.

Finally, Goldfaden MD, an American brand developed by dermatologists, which really knows what it’s doing. Love the product names (Fresh-a-peel, Needle-less), love the formulas, love the superb results. My hero product is the scarily good Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil (£105), a cocktail of power-packed oils, which you can use how you like (try a couple of drops in your foundation).
