Have a gorgeous Christmas

It’s that time of year again when the Beauty Bird wishes you all a wonderful yuletide and returns to her nest for a few weeks. But not before I’ve recommended five more products to see you on your way.

And this year, I’ve chosen an essential for the coming weeks of slightly harder living, slightly higher thermostats and slightly less water intake. Your complexion will thank you come January for one of these five facial oils. See you then – looking gorgeous.

First up is my new essential for the boozing season: Caudalie Overnight Detox Oil (£29). What a little miracle worker this is. If you are in a fit state after your night out to even wave a flannel near your visage – squeeze a few drops of this out, I implore you. It contains anti-oxidant grape seed, regenerating rosehip, purifying neroli, soothing lavender and detoxifying carrot oils – to ensure you wake up looking not quite as awful as you deserve to.

When the weather is cold and the heating is up my skin can feel tight by the end of the day, and look dehydrated. My solution is to add a facial oil under my night cream for an extra layer. I really like Organic Surge Replenishing Facial Oil Enriched with Argan Oil (£23.50), which instantly soothes and hydrates.

Oleicia Facial Oil (£27.50) scores extra points for multi-tasking. It’s designed for both cleansing and moisturising and is rich in oleic acid, which is very similar to the sebum naturally produced by skin, and helps your complexion to ‘self-moisturise’. Love this as a cleanser, then again after, patted on. A one-stop oil shop. Lovely.

A’kin is an Australian brand and their award-winning, hero product is their Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil (£18), which is extracted without high temperatures to make sure the most potent oil is recovered. The result is perfect for skin that needs some TLC – it beats dullness, hydrates and improves suppleness.

Finally, an oil for on the go. This cute little roller ball from Betty Hula (£6.25) contains The Secret Wonder Oil, a blend of grapeseed, apricot kernel, avocado oil, jojoba and hemp oil, along with vitamin E. As well as being a lovely night-time oil on any skin type (it’s not greasy), you can pop it in your handbag and use on any old scar, stretchmark or dry bit you like. Looks wonderfully retro too.
