Can You Bare It?

I know I’m probably meant to care about the nick of my body all year round, but the truth is, opaque tights are very good at helping me forget any lumpiness that lurks beneath. Then May comes, with all its sunshine, and I suddenly realise I might have to put the tights away and actually reveal flesh. Terrifying.

As we’re all aware, the best way to minimise cellulite is to do lots of exercise, drink water, lay off the booze, skin brush…oh you know. Creams aren’t going to ‘cure’ it – but they will improve the condition of the skin, and make you smoother – so the cellulite won’t be as noticeable. I’ve lined up my summer prep armoury of orange-peel busters. Take your pick.

First up is something wonderfully French and spa-like: Caudalie Contouring Concentrate (£24). I’ve got my hands on this again because I used it last year and it really does perform. I like the science-y looking marks on the tube to make sure you use the correct amount, and I adore the super-herbal smell.

From Swedish brand Oriflame comes Bioclinic Cellulite Reductor (£30.95). This reminds me of a giant version of the roll-on eye creams you get: three steel balls make massaging super easy and you feel like you’re really ‘getting in there’. Great for those stubborn wobbly bits and there’s no wastage.

OriflameNew brand alert: For All My Eternity (F.A.M.E.). Not crazy on the name – crazy about the products though. Sculpt & Smooth Firming Gel (£29.99) is a corker, a delicious clear gel containing Aloe Vera, Juniper Berry and Grapefruit extract, it’s perfect for bum and thighs, but also for including those in-between areas like tummy and upper arms that don’t need quite as much attention.

For All My EternityKerstin Florian is one of my favourite body brands and their Intensive Slimming Serum (£61) is a great one to line up for the few weeks before a beachy holiday. It gives a really even tone to the skin and I’m sure it’s blurred some stretch marks I earned from my two pregnancies. Fabulous stuff.

Kerstin FlorianFinally, a new launch from Green People: Age Defy+ Contour & Sculpt Body Lotion (£29.95). Love that this is an all-over body lotion that works on lumpy bits – and love that it smells so posh and organic. And with 33 beauty-enhancing actives, it’s as hardworking as anything twice the price.
